The Department of Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, and Epidemiology was founded over 30 years ago in
one of the oldest medical universities of the United States (circa 1824).
The Department's location within the College of Medicine creates an environment that continually
provides practical problems for study. The combination of biostatistics, epidemiology, and
bioinformatics in one department provides a synergistic environment for faculty and students
to actively pursue cross-disciplinary methodological and applied research in the three areas.
